Product Description
Woolly Bugger Marabou
Of all the different feathers used by fly tiers, the marabou feather has to be one of the most unique and useful materials to ever grace a hook. Marabou can be used on flies in many different ways, ranging from gnarly-looking bodies, fluffy wings, to undulating tails. Woolly Bugger Marabou is shorter and fuller than Hareline Marabou Strung Blood Quills. Do you use Woolly Buggers?
Marabou usually comes from turkey in packs labeled select marabou, bugger marabou, and blood marabou; although, there are other variations on the market today. The first of these will contain a mix of feather types. Bugger marabou contains a consistent bundle of feathers with moderately long barbs and thin stems. Blood marabou is usually long with especially short, thin stems. Bloods are in many respects the easiest to use for wings and tails, and they can also be wrapped like a hackle for patterns like the Alaskabou.
