The Orvis 9034 or Daiichi 2546 Saltwater Hook is the highest quality stainless steel saltwater fishing hooks, with an O'Shaughnessy bend for secure hooking and holding power. The hooks have a point that is actually sharpened and ground after the hook is forged-- most saltwater fly hooks merely have a forged point, which can never be as sharp. The ground needle point is razor sharp, right from the box, and will easily penetrate the jaw of the toughest saltwater fish.

Daiichi 2546 Stainless Steel Salt Water Hook

I purchased the Daiichi 2546 size 2 to tie some Clouser Deep Minnows. Daiichi is my favorite brand of hook, although, I would admit there are several brands on the market now that I don't have much experience with. The only negative aspect of this hook was the fact that barbs broke off when I pinched them down so I felt compelled to file the rough edge left by the break. This is nothing new . . . it seems most hook brands with the exception of Mustad are a bit on the brittle side, which may be done to accomplish a sharper hook point . . . just a guess on my part. The fact that the hook is made with stainless steel might have something to do with the brittleness, too.

Perfect hook for tying a multitude of inshore patterns. Perfect shank length for tying redfish sliders, crabs, and baitfish patterns. Super sharp and stout!
