Hise's Articulated Coffin Fly Spinner (Orvis) is an articulated dry fly pattern that was featured in the 2010 Orvis catalog.
The "Coffin Fly" is the term used to describe the spinner of the Eastern Green Drake (Ephemera guttulata). It was originally coined by Ted Townsend (and Walt Dette), as he tied the first prototype after attending a funeral. Green Drakes are large critters with a peculiar white abdomen and very dark thorax. Tie on a Hise's Coffin Fly Spinner during the Eastern Green Drake spinner fall and listen for the slurp. Big trout eat 'em up. Designed by Orvis Fly Tyer of the Year (2005), Dave Hise, and tied by the Orvis tyers.
Sizes: 6, 10.
